"Inaka-giku" (Aster semiamplexicaulis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Tokai region of Honshu westward to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. It grows along the edges of forests and roads in mountainous areas and grows 50 to 100 cm tall. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate and slightly enfold the stem at the base. From September to November, the stem branches off at the end and produces white flower heads in corymbose clusters. It is similar to the "Shiro-yomena", but has slightly thicker ray flowers and greenish-brown involucre bell-shaped bracts.
