おきなわうらぼし (沖縄裏星)

わが国の沖縄県以南から、台湾、東南アジア、ポリネシア、アフリカまで広く分布しています。樹木の上や幹、流れ沿いの岩上に着生します。厚い革質の葉は卵状楕円形で、羽状に深裂します。台湾華語では「海岸星蕨」と呼ばれます。ハワイでは布の香りづけに使われたそうです。 |

ウラボシ科ヌカボシクリハラン属の常緑シダ類で、学名は Microsorium scolopendria。英名は Wart fern。 |

The Wart fern (Microsorium scolopendria) belongs to the family Polypodiaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is widely distributed from Okinawa Prefecture in Japan south to Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Polynesia, and Africa. It grows on tree tops, trunks, and rocks along streams. The thick leathery leaves are ovate-elliptic with deep pinnate lobes. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "海岸星蕨". In Hawaii, it was used to scent cloth. |
