ユリ科ウバユリ属の多年草で、学名は Cardiocrinum cordatum var. glehnii。英名はありません。
The "Oo-uba-yuri" (Cardiocrinum cordatum var. glehnii) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido of Japan, the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin. This herb grows in montane to subalpine wetish woodlands and can reach 1.5-2 m in height. The leaves are net-veined. The spikes are borne on the upper stem and the greenish white flowers bloom sideways. The flowers are produced only on mature, over 10 years old. They are blighted after bearing. The bulbs contain amylum and have been used for food.
