うすべにあおい (薄紅葵)

ヨーロッパが原産です。高さは９０センチほどになり、円形の葉は掌状に５〜７裂して長い葉柄があります。５月から８月ごろ、ピンク色に赤紫色の縞模様の花を咲かせます。名前は、薄い花弁の「べにあおい（紅葵）」ということから。若い葉や花はサラダに、またハーブティーとしても利用されます。ふつうには「コモンマロー」と呼ばれます。 |

アオイ科ゼニアオイ属の多年草で、学名は Malva sylvestris。英名は Mallow、Common mallow。 |

The Mallow (Malva sylvestris) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe. This herb can reach about 90 cm in height. The leaves are round with long petioles and divided into 5-7 lobes palmately. The pink flowers with magenta stripes come from May to August. The young leaves and flowers are used for salads and herbal teas. It is also called "Common mallow". |
