マレー半島からインドネシア、ニューギニアに分布しています。高さは２〜４．５メートルになり、葉は卵形で縁には鋸歯があり互生します。葉腋から長さ３０〜５０センチの紐状の赤い花穂を下垂させます。花弁は退化してありません。 |

トウダイグサ科エノキグサ属の常緑低木で、学名は Acalypha hispida。英名は Chenille plant、Pussy tail。 |

The Chenille plant (Acalypha hispida) belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed through the Malay Peninsula, Indonesia, and New Guinea. This small tree can reach 2-4.5 m in height. Leaves are ovate, alternate, and serrated. Red ribbon-shaped inflorescences hang from the axils. Petals are absent because of atrophy.
