はしかんぼく (波志干木) [Index] [Back] わが国の琉球列島、屋久島、種子島から奄美大島、沖縄島、石垣島、西表島、与那国島に分布しています。山地のやや湿った道ばたや山裾などに生え、高さは３０〜１００センチになります。茎の断面は丸く、葉は薄い革質で、卵形から卵状長楕円形、細かな低い鋸歯があります。また葉の両面には、疎らに毛が生えます。７月から９月ごろ、淡いピンク色から白色の花を茎頂の集散花序に咲かせます。別名で「のかいどう（野海棠）」とも呼ばれます。  ノボタン科ハシカンボク属の常緑小低木で、学名は Bredia hirsuta。英名はありません。  "Hashi-kanboku" (Bredia hirsut) belongs to Melastmataceae (the Melastome family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in the Ryukyu Chain, Yakushima, Tanegashima to Amami Ooshima, Okinawa, Ishigaki, Iriomote and Yonaguni Island. This shurb grows in somewhat wet road sides and mountain skirts, and up tp a height of 30-100 cm. The cross section of the stem is round, the leaves are thin leathery, ovate to ovate-oblong with fine low saw teeth. Also on both sides of the leaves, hair grows sparsely.
