ヘリコニア・カリバエア [Index] [Back] 中央アメリカからプエルトリコ、コロンビアそれにベネズエラに分布しています。多湿の雨林や川沿いに生え、高さは２〜３メートルになります。葉は滑らかな革質、長楕円形で長い葉柄があります。春から夏にかけて、長い花序をだし、赤色やオレンジ色、黄色などの苞に包まれた白色と緑色の花を咲かせます。多くの園芸品が作出され、これらは周年咲きです。 バショウ科ヘリコニア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heliconia caribaea。英名はありません。 Heliconia caribaea belongs to Musaceae (the Banana family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Central America, Puerto Rico, Columbia and Venezuela. This herb grows in humid rainforests or along rivers and can reach 2-3 m in height. The leaves are smooth, leathery and oblong with long leaf stalks. The white and green flowers with red, orange or yellow bracts appear in the long inflorescences from spring through summer.
