中国の南部に分布しています。冷涼な気候の高地に生える地生ランで、高さは３０〜５０センチほどになります。葉は卵形から楕円形で、襞があります。４月から５月ごろ、短くて細い花序に、黄緑色の花を２〜３個咲かせます。咲き始めには強い悪臭を放つそうです。小種名は、アイルランドの植物収集家、オーガスチン・ヘンリー（Augustine Henry）に因みます。中国名では「緑花杓蘭（lu hua shao lan）」。

The Henry's cypripedium (Cypripedium henryi) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in southern China. It is a subterranean orchid that grows at high altitudes in cool climates and grows 30-50 cm tall. It produces two to three yellow-green flowers in short, narrow inflorescences from April to May. It is said to emit a strong odor at the beginning of blooming. The species is named after Augustine Henry, an Irish plant collector. The Chinese name is "緑花杓蘭" (lu hua shao lan).
