わが国の本州、中国地方から四国、九州北部に分布しています。「いかりそう」と「ばいかいかりそう」の自然交雑種と考えられています。山地の林縁などに生え、高さは１５〜３０センチになります。葉は２回３出複葉で、小葉は楕円形、細かい鋸歯があります。４月から５月ごろ、総状花序をだし、白色の花を咲かせます。花冠は４個の花弁と８個の萼片で構成され、萼片のうち４個は早落性です。

メギ科イカリソウ属の多年草で、学名は Epimedium x youngianum (syn. Epimedium tifoliatobinatum)。英名はありません。

"Hime-ikari-so" (Epimedium x youngianum) belongs to Berberidaceae (the Berberry family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Chugoku district of Honshu, Shikoku and northern Kyushu. It is thought to be a natural hybrid between "Ikari-so" (Epimedium grandiflorum var. thunbergianum) and "Baika-ikari-so" (Epimedium diphyllum). This herb grows in mountain forest edges and can reach 15-30 cm in height. The leaves are biternate compound and the leaflets are elliptic and fine serrated. The racemes are borne and the white flowers bloom from April to May. The corolla consists of four petales and eight tepals. The four sepals are caducous (short-lived).
