中央アメリカのエクアドルが原産です。茎は直立して暗赤褐色をしています。葉は卵形で、葉脈が目立ちます。60センチほどの花茎を伸ばして、ブラシのような花序に小さな白い花を咲かせます。ほのかな芳香があります。観葉植物として普及している「ペペロミア」のなかでも、花も観賞できる品種です。 
コショウ科サダソウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Peperomia fraseri。英名は Flowering peperomia。 
The Flowering peperomia (Peperomia fraseri) belongs to Piperaceae (the Pepper family). It is an evergreen perennial that is native to Ecuador in Central America. The stems are erect and dark reddish brown in color. The leaves are ovate with conspicuous veins. 60-cm-long flower stalks grow to produce small white flowers in brush-like inflorescences. It has a faint fragrance. It is one of the most popular peperomia varieties among houseplants, and its flowers can also be appreciated.
