ヨーロッパの中部から南部およびイギリスに分布しています。湿り気のある草地に生え、高さは20〜50センチになります。葉は楕円形で根生し、細かい毛に被われています。5月から9月ごろ、穂状花序をだし、淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。花は花序の下から上に咲きあがります。
オオバコ科オオバコ属の多年草で、学名は Plantago media。英名は Hoary plantain。
The hoary plantain (Plantago media) belongs to Plantaginaceae (the Plantain family). It is a perennial herb that is native to central and western Europe, including Great Britain. This herb grows in damp grassy meadows and can reach 20-50 cm in height. The leaves are basal, elliptic and covered with fine hairs. The spikes are borne and bloom pale pink flowers between May and September. They are bursting out from bottom up of clusters.
