コーカサスまつむしそう (コーカサス松虫草) [Index] [Back] コーカサス地方やトルコ北東部、それにイランの北部が原産です。高さは６０センチになり、茂みを形成します。葉は深く羽状に分裂します。夏の終わりから秋にかけて、淡いブルーや藤色で直径８センチほどの頭花を咲かせます。花はハチや他の受粉媒介をする昆虫を非常に惹きつけます。赤、紫、ピンク、青、白などの色合いで、園芸用に数多くの品種が開発されています。  マツムシソウ科マツムシソウ属の多年草で、学名は Scabiosa caucasica。英名は Caucasian pincushion flower。  Scabiosa caucasica (Scabiosa caucasica) belongs to Dipsacaceae (the Teasel family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Caucasus, north eastern Turkey, and northern Iran. This herb grows up to 60 cm in height, and forms a clump. The leaves are divided into deep pinnately. The pale blue or lavender flower heads, about 8 cm in diameter bloom from late summer through to fall. They are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.
