熱帯アフリカが原産です。インキスム種（Clerodendrum incisum）の変種で、高さは１．２メートルほどになります。葉は楕円形で比較的小さく、対生します。一年を通して、枝先に半球状の花序をだし、白色の筒状花を咲かせます。花筒部は長く、赤い雄しべが突き出します。つぼみのころは音符のようなかたちに見え、英名では「ミュージカルノート」と呼ばれます。 |

The Musical note (Clerodendrum incisum var. macrosiphon) belongs to Verbenaceae (thr Verbena family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to tropical Africa. It is a variety of Clerodendrum incisum and grows to about 1.2 m tall. The leaves are elliptic, relatively small, and grow in pairs. It produces hemispherical inflorescences at the ends of its branches and white tubular flowers throughout the year. The flower tube is long, and the red stamens protrude. When in bud, the flowers look like musical notes, hence the English name "musical note". |
