アジアの温帯地域から北アメリカに分布している「プリムラ・ボレアリス」の一地方種(川島タイプ, Kawashima type)で、サハリン中部の川島山に分布しています。草地に生え、高さは10〜15センチになります。葉は倒卵形からへら形で、縁には細かい鋸歯があります。春に花茎を伸ばして散形花序をだし、淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。 
サクラソウ科サクラソウ属の多年草で、学名は Primula borealis。英名はありません。 
"Kawashima-kozakura" (Primula borealis) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is a local species (Kawashima type) of Primula borealis distributed from the temperate zone of Asia to North America, and is found on Mt. Kawashima in central Sakhalin. It grows in grassland and is 10-15 cm tall. The leaves are obovate to spatulate, with fine serrations on the edges. In spring, the flower stalks grow to form umbels, which produce pale pink flowers.
