わが国の本州から四国・九州それに中国の東部に分布しています。日当たりの良い山地に生え、高さは１〜３メートルになります。葉は３出複葉で互生し、小葉は卵状楕円形から長楕円形で、先端が尖ります。７月から９月ごろ、葉腋から総状花序をだし、淡い黄白色の花を咲かせます。花は蝶形花で、旗弁の中央部と翼弁が紫紅色を帯びます。中国語では「緑葉胡枝子（lu ye hu zhi zi）」と呼ばれます。

マメ科ハギ属の落葉低木で、学名は Lespedeza buergeri。英名はありません。

The "Ki-hagi" (Lespedeza buergeri) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as eastern China. This tree grows in sunny mountains and can reach 1-3 m in height. The leaves are trifoliate and alternate. The leaflets are ovate-elliptic to oblong with acute tips. The racemes are borne on the axiles and the pale yellowish-white papilionacenous flowers bloom from July to September. The center of flag petals and wing petals are tinged peach bloom. In Chinese, it is called "緑葉胡枝子" (lu ye hu zhi zi).
