ブラジル南部が原産です。金色の細い棘に被われ、高さ６０センチ、直径１２センチほどになります。成長すると分枝して、円柱状になります。花はあまり見ることができませんが、たまに鮮黄色の花を咲かせます。

サボテン科エリオカクツス属の柱サボテンで、学名は Eriocactus leninghausii (syn. Paradia leninghausii)。英名は Golden ball cactus。

The Golden ball cactus (Eriocactus leninghausii) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a treelike cuctus that is native to southern Brazil. It is covered with thin golden spines and grows to a height of 60 cm and a diameter of about 12 cm. As it grows, it branches and becomes cylindrical. Flowers are rarely seen, but occasionally it produces bright yellow flowers.
