「ひがんざくら（彼岸桜）」と中国原産の「しなのみざくら（支那の実桜）」との交雑種だと考えられています。葉はやや小型の狭長楕円形または卵状楕円形で、縁には欠刻状重鋸歯があります。春と秋から冬にかけて、一年に２回開花します。花は八重咲きで白色です。散りぎわには花芯が赤味を帯びます。和名は、釣鐘状の萼筒のなかには雌しべが７〜８個あり、ひとつの花から１〜３個の果実をつけることから。

バラ科サクラ属の落葉高木で、学名は Prunus x Kobuku-zakura。英名はありません。

"Kobuku-zakura" (Prunus x Kobuku-zakura) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a tall deciduous tree that is thought to be a hybrid of "Rosebud cherry" (Prunus subhirtella) and "Cambridge cherry" (Prunus pseudocerasus) native to China. The leaves are rather small, narrow-oblong or ovate-elliptic, with indented duplicato-serratus edges. It blooms twice a year from spring and fall to winter. The flowers are double-flowered and white. The flower center is reddish when it falls. The Japanese name is that there are 7 to 8 pistils in the bell-shaped calyx, and 1 to 3 fruits are produced from one flower.
