わが国の本州から四国・九州に分布しています。山地の林内などに生え、蔓性で地面を這って広がります。葉は円形で互生し、縁には鈍鋸歯があります。葉の主脈に沿って黒色を帯びることがあります。5月から7月ごろ、枝先に白い花を咲かせます。果実は集合果で、8月から9月に赤く熟し食べられます。
バラ科キイチゴ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Rubus pectinellus。英名はありません。
"Kobano-fuyui-chigo" (Rubus pectinellus) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This shrub grows in mountain woodlands and crawls on the grounds by trailing vines. The leaves are round and arranged in alternate with obtuse serrated edges. They are often tinged blackish along their midribs. The white flowers bloom at the tip of branches from May to July. The fruits are edible aggregate and ripen red in August through September.
