わが国の本州、中部地方以北の日本海側に分布しています。山地の林床などに生え、高さは10〜20センチになります。「やまえんごさく}に似ていますが、全体に小さく、花はほっそりとしています。葉は1〜3回3出複葉で、小葉は線形から狭円形で、変化が多いです。4月から5月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、総状に淡青紫色の小さな花をまばらにつけます。花は長さ10〜15ミリで唇弁は方形、苞葉は欠刻があるかまたは全縁です。 
ケマンソウ科キケマン属の多年草で、学名は Corydalis capillipes。英名はありません。 
"Michinoku-engosaku" (Corydalis capillipes) belongs to the Fumariaceae (the Fumitory family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to the Japan Sea Side of Honshu, from Chubu region north to Tohoku region. This herb grows on the forest floors of the mountainous area and up to a height of 10-20 cm. It is similar to "Yama-engosaku" but it is smaller and the flowers are slender. The leaves are trifoliate to triternate compound with linear to narrow round leaflets, there are many changes in shape. The flowering stalks are borne and bloom sparsely light blue purple, small flowers from April to May. The flower is 5-10 mm in length with square-shaped lips, and the bracts are notched or entire.
