わが国の固有種で、本州の中部地方から関東地方に分布しています。亜高山帯から高山帯の岩場や礫地に生え、高さは10〜35センチになります。茎は斜めに立ちあがります。根生葉は先が浅く切れこんださじ形です。7月から9月ごろ、茎の中ほどから上部の葉腋に花柄をのばして、花を下向きにつけます。 
キク科ヨモギ属の多年草で、学名は Artemisia pedunculosa。英名はありません。 
"Miyama-otoko-yomogi" (Artemisia pedunculosa) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and distributed from Chubu district to Kanto district of Honshu. This herb grows in sub-alpine to alpine rocky places or screes, and can reach 10-35 cm in height. The stems extend obliquely upward. The basal leaves are spatulate with slightly notched tips. The peduncles are borne at the middle to upper axils of stems, and the flowerheads bloom facing downward from July to September.
