アメリカの東部から中南部に分布しています。湿ったところに生え、高さは９０センチほどになります。葉は三角状で対生し、縁には粗い鋸歯があります。４月から１１月ごろ、枝先に花序をだし、青色から紫色の頭花を咲かせます。

キク科ヒヨドリバナ属の多年草で、学名は Eupatorium coelestinum (syn. Conoclinium coelestinum)。英名は Mistflower、Blue mistflower。

The mistflower (Eupatorium coelestinum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the eastern and mid-southern United States. This herb grows on the waste places and can reach about 90 cm in height. The leaves are deltoid with coarse toothed edges, and arranged in opposite. The flowering clusters are borne at the top of branches, and the blue to purple flower-heads bloom from April to November.
