マレー半島からジャワ島、スマトラ島にかけてが原産です。高さは３〜５メートルほどになります。葉は偶数羽状複葉で、小葉は卵形から楕円形です。自生地では９月から１０月ごろに、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。英名からきた別名、「いりたまごのき（炒り卵の木）」とも呼ばれます。

ジャケツイバラ科カワラケツメイ属の常緑低木で、学名は Cassia surattensis。英名は Scrambled egg tree、Glaucous Cassia。

The scrambled egg tree (Cassia surattensis) belongs to the family Caesalpiniaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is native to the Malay Peninsula, Java and Sumatra. This tree can reach 3-5 m in height. The leaves are pari-pinnately and the leaflets are ovate to elliptic. Bright yellow flowers come in September to October at indigenous areas.
