アメリカのテキサス州に分布しています。広い草原に生え、高さは10〜30センチになります。形態的にはかなり変異がみられ、葉は披針形や卵形、倒披針形で互生します。茎や葉は細毛に被われています。3月から5月ごろ、黄色い舌状花が5個ある花を咲かせます。名前は、植物学者のリンドハイマー(Ferdinand Lindheimer)に因みます。 
キク科リンドヘイメラ属の一年草で、学名は Lindheimera texana。英名は Texas star、Lindheimer daisy。 
The Texas star (Lindheimera texana) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an annual herb that is native to Texas in the United States. This herb grows in open grassy areas and can reach 10-30 cm in height. It is highly variable in appearance, its alternate leaves may be lanceolate, ovate or oblanceolate. The stems and leaves are covered with fine hairs. The yellow, 5-ray flowers come in March to May. The specific epithet is named in honor of Ferdinand Lindheimer (early Texas bptanist).
