メキシコが原産です。現在ではアメリカの一部の地域に帰化しています。多くのルイラソウ属よりも背が高く、９０センチほどになります。細い楕円形の葉は互生します。秋の終わりごろ、白色からローズピンクの鐘形の花を咲かせます。花弁にはより濃いピンク色の縞模様があります。

キツネノマゴ科ルイラソウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Ruellia macrantha。英名は Pink wild petunia、Red ruellia。

The Pink wild petunia (Ruellia macrantha) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Ruellia family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Mexico. Nowadays, it is naturalized in some areas of the United States. This shrub is taller than other Ruellia species and can reach about 90 cm in height. The leaves are narrow elliptic and alternate. The white to rose pink campanulate flowers bloom in late fall. The petals have darker pink striped patterns.
