Heterotropa hexalob

わが国の本州、中国地方西部から四国南西部、それに九州北部に分布しています。山地の林内に生え、高さは10〜20センチになります。葉は倒卵形か卵形で、長い葉柄があります。よく白雲紋がでます。4月ごろ、淡い緑褐色の花を咲かせます。萼筒はきんちゃく形、萼裂片は卵形で内面に横しわが入ります。
ウマノスズクサ科カンアオイ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heterotropa hexalob (syn. Asarum hexalob)。英名はありません。
"Sanyo-aoi" (Heterotropa hexalob) belongs to Aristolochiaceae (the Birthwort family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed to western Chugoku district of Honshu, south-western Shikoku and northern Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows in mountain forests and can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are obovate or ovate with long petioles. They have often cloudlike mottles on the surfaces. The pale greenish-brown flowers bloom in April. The calyx tube is purse-shaped and the calyx lobes are ovate with lateral cockles at the inner surface.
