Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a semi-tall deciduous tree that is native to south-eastern Europe and northern Asia. This tree grows in arid screes and can reach about 10 m in height. The barks are grayish-brown and furrowed into quadrangular ridges. The leaves are round, entire and deep cordate at the basis. The pale rose pink, papilionacenous flowers about 2 cm long, bloom on the new branches and main branches in spring. The fruits are flat seed pods, and ripen in brown.
