The Black jetbead (Rhodotypos scandens) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed from China to the Korean Peninsula, and rarely in Japan. This tree is usually planted in gardends or parks. It can reach 1-3 m in height. The leaves are opposite. The white 4-petaled flowers come on the terminal twigs from April to May. The fruits ripen black in summer.
