オーストラリア東部のクイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州、それに太平洋諸島に分布しています。海岸近くの雨林の林縁に生え、高さは１〜２メートルになります。茎には細毛や短い棘が生えます。茎の下部の葉は卵形から広楕円形で３〜５深裂します。花序がつく上部の葉は狭長卵形で分裂しません。枝先に総状花序をだし、直径３〜５センチの黄色い花を咲かせます。咽部は赤色です。

アオイ科フヨウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Hibiscus diversifolius。英名は Swamp hibiscus。

The Swamp hibiscus (Hibiscus diversifolius) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from Queensland to New South Wales and the Pacific Islands in eastern Australia. It grows on the edge of a rainforest near the coast and can reach 1-2 m in height. Fine hair and short spines grow on the stem. The leaves at the bottom of the stem are ovate to broad-elliptic and split 3-5 deep lobes. The upper leaves with inflorescences are narrow oblong and do not divide. Racemes are borne on the tips of the branches and bloom yellow flowers with a diameter of 3 to 5 cm. The pharynx of corolla is red.
