The Mat daisy (Raoulia australis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed on the North and South Islands of New Zealand. It is a rosette with a height of about 5 cm that grows in the sunny gravel of the subalpine zone. It spreads like a carpet like moss. The leaves are round, covered with white hair and appear gray. Small pale yellow flower heads bloom in summer, but they are not noticeable.
