ヨーロッパに分布しています。山地の渓流沿いや湿り気のある開墾地などに生え、高さは６０〜９０センチになります。分枝して、大きな卵形の葉をつけます。葉にはわずかに毛が生えます。春から夏にかけて、鮮やかな黄色い頭花を咲かせます。

キク科ドロニクム属の多年草で、学名は Doronicum austriacum。英名は Austrian leopard's bane。

The Austrian leopard's bane (Doronicum austriacum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe. This herb grows along montane streams and in wet reclaimed lands, and it can reach 60-90 cm in height. The plant is much branched and bears large ovate leaves. The leaves are lightly bearded. The bright yellow flower-heads bloom from spring to summer.
