"Takane-yahazu-hahako" (Anaphalis alpicola) belongs to the Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Hokkaido, Mt. Hayachine in in Iwate Prefecture, the Northern and Southern Alps in Honshu, and central China. This herb grows in alpine screes and arid grasslands, and can reach 4-30 cm in height. The whole plant is covered with white wooly hairs and the leaves are found white-tinged. The flowers bloom in July and August. The bracts are dried membrane, white and magenta.
