"Japanease holly fern" (Cyrtomium laetevirens) belongs to the Polypodiaceae (the Polypody family). It is an evergreen fern that is native to thoroughout Japan. This fern grows in forests or forest edges on lowlands or mountains, and can reach 50-100 cm in height. The leaves are unipennate, broad-lanceolate, somewhat glossy green and leathery. The pinnae are sickle-oblong, 10-20 pairs, thin fine serrated and hardly any eared at the base. The sori are round and scattered around the pinnae.
