Eustoma exaltatum ssp. russellianum)。英名は Showy prairie gentian。
The Showy prairie gentian (Eustoma grandiflorum) belongs to Gentianaceae (the Gentian family). It is an annual or a biennial herb that is native to the central and southern part of United States and Mexico. This herb grwos in prairies and the stem is erect, can reach about 90 cm in height. The leaves are grayosh-green, ovate and opposite. The scyphiform, pink, white or pale purple flowers come on the stem apices or axiles from April to July. This herb was introduced into Japan in early Showa Era (about 80 years ago). The many cultivars have been breeded in Europe and Japan.
