北アメリカの西部、オレゴン州からカリフォルニア州に分布しています。疎林や丘陵、草地などに生え、高さは10〜50センチになります。葉は狭いイネ科のようなかたちで、根生します。6月ごろ、すみれ色から青紫色の漏斗形の花を咲かせます。写真上・中は園芸品種の「クイーンファビオラ(cv. Queen Fabiola)」。
ユリ科トリテレイア属の多年草で、学名は Triteleia laxa。英名は Grass-nut。
The Grass-nut (Triteleia laxa) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to western North America, from Oregon to California. This herb grows in open forests, foothills or grasslands and can reach 10-50 cm in height. The leaves are narrow grass-like and basal. The violet to blue-purple funnel-shaped flowers come in June. The 1st and 2nd photos are a cultivar 'Queen Fabiola'.
