つくばねうつぎ (衝羽根空木)

わが国の本州から、四国・九州に分布しています。日当たりの良い谷間に生え、高さは１〜２メートルになります。名前は、果実のかたちを追い羽根に見立てたもの。５月から６月ごろ、白色から淡黄色の花を、枝先に２個ずつ咲かせます。下唇の内側にオレンジ色の模様があり、同じ大きさの萼片が５個あるのが特徴です。 |

スイカズラ科ツクバネウツギ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Abelia spathulata。英名はありません。 |

"Tsukubane-utsugi" (Abelia spathulata) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed from Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This shrub grows in sunny mountain valleys and can reach 1-2 m in height. The Japanese common name is derived from shuttlecock-like fruits. The white to pale yellow flowers bloom tow by two atop of twigs from May to June. The coralla has orange mottles on the inside of lower lip and 5 sepals of equal size. |
