つるぼ (蔓穂)

わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。日当たりの良い草原や林縁に生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。地中には黒褐色の鱗茎があり、茹でて水に晒すと食用にもなります。８月から９月ごろ、葉のあいだから花茎を伸ばし、総状花序に薄紫色の花を咲かせます。別名で「さんだいがさ（参内傘）」とも呼ばれます。 |

"Tsurubo" (Scilla scilloides) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. This herb grows in sunny grasslands or forest edges and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The blackkish brown bulb is edible though necessary to boil and soak in water. The raceme is borne on the flowering stalk and blooms pale purple flowers. |
