中国の東北部と朝鮮半島に分布しています。わが国へは明治の末に渡来しました。倒披針形または長楕円形の葉は互生します。４月から５月ごろ、白色の花を咲かせます。果実は１０月に熟し、種子には翼があります。

バラ科ヤナギザクラ属の落葉低木で、学名は Exochorda serratifolia。英名は Pearlbush。

The Pearlbush (Exochorda serratifolia) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to north-eastern China and the Korean Peninsula. This tree was introduced into Japan in the last days of Meiji Era (about 100 years ago). The leaves are oblanceolate to oblong and alternate. The white flowers come in April to May. The fruits ripen in October and the seeds have wings.
