Musengera (Podocarpus gracilior) belongs to the family Podocarpaceae. It is a tall evergreen tree that is native to northeastern Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. This tree grows in Afromontane forests at 1800-2400 m altitude, and can reach 20-40 m in height. The leaves are spirally arranged, lanceolate, 2–6 cm long. The seed cones are globose, with a single 2 cm diameter seed with a thin fleshy coating. It is an important timber tree in eastern Africa, used for building construction, panelling, flooring and furniture.
