The Primula filchnerae belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southwestern China. A close relative of "Primula chinensis", it has recently been distributed as an early spring potted flower. It grows 20-40 cm tall, and its stems and leaves are covered with soft hairs and dense glands. The leaves are pinnately lobed. In early spring, the flower scapes grow and produce pale pink flowers. In Chinese, it is called "陝西羽葉報春" (shaan xi yu ye bao chun).
