"Na-game" (Eurydema rugosa) belongs to the family Pentatomidae (the Shield bug family). It is an insect that is distributed throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It inhabits grasslands from plains to mountains, and its body length is 6.5 to 9.5 mm. The adult has a black mark on an orange background, or an orange stripe on a black background. The larvae have a distinctive odor that repels ants, which are natural enemies of the larvae. Both larvae and adults feed on cruciferous plants. The larvae are pests that suck the juices of cruciferous vegetables, causing small white patches on the affected leaves, which wilt and die if there are too many of them. Its Japanese name means "na-game" (shield bug on rape blossoms).
