オーストラリアの東部、クイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州、ビクトリア州に分布しています。熱帯雨林の林縁からまばらな林内に生息します。クモの巣は中規模の円形で、その中心部に十字形のかくれ帯（Stabilimentum）をつくります。英名は、この隠れるための帯が、スコットランドのシンボルでもある聖アンデレ十字（Saint Andrew's cross）に似ていることから。

コガネグモ科コガネグモ属のクモ類で、学名は Argiope keyserlingi。英名は Saint Andrew's cross spider。

The Saint Andrew's cross spider (Argiope keyserlingi) belongs to Araneidae (the Orb-weaver spider family). It is a spider that is native in eastern Australia, from Queensland to New South Wales and Victoria. It is found in tropical rainforest in forest margins to sparse woodland. The spider's web is medium-sized and circular, with a central cross-shaped hiding band (stabilimentum). The English name is derived from the resemblance of this band of concealment to the Saint Andrew's cross, which is also the symbol of Scotland.
