ヨーロッパから西アジアに分布しています。湿り気のある林内や牧草地などに生え、高さは60〜100センチになります。葉は腎形で、掌状に3〜5裂します。6月から8月ごろ、茎頂に総状花序をだし、かぶと形をしたクリーム色の花を咲かせます。全草が有毒で、とくに根には強い毒性があります。
キンポウゲ科トリカブト属の多年草で、学名は Aconitum lycoctonum。英名は Wolfsbane。
Wolfsbaneアコニツム・リコクトヌム (Aconitum lycoctonum) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb native to Europe and western Asia. This herb grows in damp woods or pastures and can reach 60-100 cm in height. The leaves are reniform and palmately divided into 3-5 lobes. The racemes are borne on the stem apices and produce helmet-shaped, cream-colored flowers from June to August. The whole plant is highly toxic, and the root is especially poisonous.
