The Eyelash fern (Actiniopteris australis) belongs to the family Pteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in central and southern Africa, Madagascar, the Arabian Peninsula, India and Sri Lanka. It grows on rocky surfaces and ground in warm, dry, shady areas, and is about 15 cm tall. The fan-shaped leaves look like small palm fronds or human eyelashes. The sterile fronds are 2 to 10 cm long and bifid, dividing into 20 to 60 lobes. The fertile fronds are 3-7 cm long and resemble the sterile fronds. The sori are linear and located on the margins of the lobes and the indusium continuous.
