ブラジルの南東部、ミナス・ジェライス州に分布しています。葉は淡緑色で、短い茎に輪生し、基部は筒状になって貯水槽を形成します。また葉縁には短い棘があります。中心から花茎を伸ばして花序をつけ、黄色の花を咲かせます。苞は赤色です。

パイナップル科エクメア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Aechmea maculata。英名はありません。

The Aechmea maculata belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen perennial that is distributed in the southeastern part of Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais. The leaves are light green and grow in whorls on short stems, forming a tubular reservoir at the base. The leaf margins also have short spines. Flower stalks extend from the center to form an inflorescence with yellow flowers. The bracts are red.
