エスキナンサスの仲間は熱帯アジアに１００種ほどが分布しています。蔓性で、卵形から長楕円形の葉が対生または輪生します。茎頂または葉腋に、さまざまな筒状花を咲かせます。品種改良が進み、多くの園芸品種が作出されています。横に広がる性質があるので、吊り鉢仕立てに適しています。 写真上は「モナ（cv. Mona）」 中１は「レッドカスケード（cv. Red Cascade）」 中２は「ホリデイベルズ（cv. Holiday Bells）」 中３は「クリムソンベル（cv. Crimson Bell）」。 |

イワタバコ科エスキナンサス属の常緑小低木で、学名は Aeschynanthus sp.（属の総称）。英名は Lipstick plant。 |

Lipstick plants (Aeschynanthus) belong to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). This genus consists of about 100 species of evergreen plants that are distributed in tropical Asia. They are woody vines and the leaves are ovate to oblong, opposite or whorled. They have various ways of blooming, such as by tubular flowers in the axiles or on terminal branches.
