The Pink lady (Dissotis plumosa) belongs to Melastmataceae (the Melastome family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from western to central Africa, from Sierra Leone to Congo. It grows in tropical biomes and reaches a height of 30 to 60 cm. The stems are thin and square-shaped, creeping along the ground and spreading by rooting at the nodes. The lower part of the stems becomes woody. The leaves are elliptical, 1 to 3 cm long, and covered with short hairs. The flowers are five-petaled and bloom in shades ranging from pink to light purple. In tropical regions, it is introduced as a groundcover or ornamental plant.
