Palmer's century plant (Agave palmeri) belongs to the family Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the south-western United States; Arizona and New Mexico, and north-western Mexico; Sonora and Chihuahua. The leaves are fleshy, upright green, up to 120 cm in length, with jagged edges and ending in thick spines of 3-6 cm long. They form a dense rosette. The panicle is borne, and it can reach up to 5 m in height. The pale to greenish yellow flowers bloom on branches in the upper third of the panicle from late winter to early summer.
