原種は、北アメリカ南西部に分布しています。茎はよく分枝し、高さは４５〜６０センチほどになります。葉は卵形で灰緑色、芳香があります。６月から１０月ごろ、茎頂の穂状花序に、香りのある、淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。花はハチやチョウを惹きつけます。若い葉は、ハーブティーに利用されます。

シソ科カワミドリ属の多年草で、学名は Agastache pallidiflora ssp. neomexicana cv. Rose Mint。英名は New Mexican hyssop。

The New Mexican hyssop (Agastache pallidiflora ssp. neomexicana cv. Rose Mint) belongs to the Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb and its original species is native to south-western North America. This herb has well-branched stems and it can reach 45-60 cm in height. The leaves are ovate, gray-green and aromatic. The fragrant, soft pink flowers bloom in the terminal spikes from June to October. They are attractive to bees and butterflies. The young leaves are used to make a herbal tea.
