アメリカのユタ州やネバダ州それにカリフォルニア州が原産です。山地に生えて小さな群れをつくり、高さは２０〜３０センチ、幅は３０センチになります。葉は長さ１０〜１５センチで、先端は青灰色で上向きに曲がり、縁には非常に長い紙質でアイボリー色の棘があります。自生地では成長すると冬の終わりに、１．８〜３．６メートルの穂状花序とともに、花を咲かせます。

リュウゼツラン科リュウゼツラン属の多年草で、学名は Agave utahensis var. eborispina。英名は Ivory-spined agave、Ivory-spined Utah agave。

The Ivory-spined agave (Agave utahensis var. eborispina) belongs to the Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Utah, Nevada and California. This agave grows in mountains, forming a small clump, to 20-30 cm tall and 30 cm wide. The leaves are 10-15 cm long and upward-curving blue-grey tipped with very long papery ivory-colored spines. When plants mature in habitat they flower in late winter with 1.8-3.6 m tall spikes.
