The Spotted evergreen (Aglaonema costatum) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from Bangladesh to Thailand and the Indo-china Peninsula. It grows on the forest floor of tropical rainforests, reaching a height of about 60 cm. The leaves are ovate, about 20 cm long, with a green surface featuring white stripes along the midrib and several irregularly shaped white spots. In summer, it produces flowers with white bracts 2-3.5 cm long and a spadix. Forms without spots are sometimes considered a variety (var. immaculatum) or a form (f. immaculatum). The photograph showed an individual without spots, labeled as "Hitosuji-gusa" (single thread herb).
